Ruth Roman is the youngest daughter born to Lithuanian and Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold (Gold) & Abraham Roman in Lynn, Massachusetts. As a child, Ruth Roman's father, a carnival barker, passed away, which caused her mother, Mary Pauline (Gold), to become cleaner or waitress so that they could survive. Ruth was raised in a poor neighborhood of Boston Massachusetts in which she went to the school. She quit school in just two years, to go into acting. Her journey was not without obstacles. her path to success. In New York she was hired to pose for photos in a crime magazine and drama, however no theater job opportunities came up. The next position she was offered was the "hat check" girl for a nightclub before she gave up and relocated to Boston. As an usherette, she worked during the day and then appeared at the New England Repertory Company by night, which was her first permanent acting gig. She studied drama at The Bishop-Lee Theatre School and graduated.
