Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She is currently employed by ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and occasionally host SportsNation. She started working at ESPN in the year 2016. Her mother is the reporter for television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bilingual and has been for a long time, starting at the age of nine. The ability to speak two languages allowed her to land her first job with Univision, Miami. She could work as a producer for national programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Then, in St. Petersburg, she was recruited to the CBS station to work as a sports journalist. In 2009 she moved to Rio Grande Valley to work as a reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. She covered stories about illegal immigration as well as drug trafficking in both Texas and Mexico. Anchor duties for weather or sports were often asked for. Later, she was anchor and reporter at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She covered the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and NBA Postseason and the finals for FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. She was the producer of Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra as anchor. The show was commissioned as a anchor of the sports program by Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. In the same capacity she also worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports show). Antonietta's parents are from Veracruz Mexico. They moved at some point in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. She is younger than her sister. Her family relocated into Miami in 1992 following the departure from Mexico. After a short time, her father separated from her mother and she then remarried in 1995 a naval architect called Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away of kidney carcinoma in the year 2006. The couple stayed in Canton Ohio with her older sister over the summer in which she was provided with an opportunity to work. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school however, she was very aware of what she wanted to do in her future career. She visited Mount Union University in order to find out if the school was suitable for her. In the end, she fell in love with the school. They also offered her a the opportunity to study a major. When she finished high school, she decided to enroll at the university to pursue a degree with Media Studies. Mark Bergmann - her professor and manager at WRMU (91.1 FM) in which she was a part of. Mark Bergmann inspired her to be self-confident and his passion in journalism was a huge influence on her, and she determined to fulfill the expectations of him and not failed him.
